The phoneme /c/ is (otherwise) restricted to European (Greek and post-Greek) lexical components of Romani (cf. however Tálos 1999: 257 on *thi > ci). Neither the Burushaski etymology below (Berger 1959) nor the Greek etymology (Vekerdi 2000: 43) are convincing.
